Web design and development

I design and build websites for businesses that need their site to do a job – bring in enquiries, sell products, or give people a clear reason to get in touch. Every site I build is fast, easy for you to update, and set up properly behind the scenes.

Who this is for

You're starting out

You need your first proper website and want it done right from day one, rather than rebuilding it a year from now.

Your current site is holding you back

It's slow, looks dated on a phone, or you dread having to change anything on it.

You've outgrown a DIY builder

Wix or Squarespace got you started, but now you need more control, better SEO or features they can't offer.

You want to sell online

You need a shop with payments, delivery options and stock levels that stay accurate. WooCommerce websites

What's included

Design built around your content
Layouts are planned around what you need to say and what you want visitors to do, not squeezed into a template.
Designed for phones first
A lot of your visitors will arrive on a phone, so every page is designed and tested on small screens from the start.
Speed
Optimised images, lean code and sensible hosting choices, with Core Web Vitals checked before launch.
SEO foundations
Clean URLs, a logical heading structure, page titles and descriptions, structured data, an XML sitemap and redirects from your old site.
Editing you can manage
You'll be able to change text, images and pages yourself, and I'll show you how.
Tracking that works
Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager set up, with enquiries and sales recorded as conversions.
A proper launch
Domain, DNS, SSL and business email checked and configured, so nothing breaks on the day you go live.
Help after launch
If something needs changing once the site is live, you contact me – the same person who built it.

What I'll ask before designing anything

The design comes after these are answered. They save time, and they're usually the difference between a site that looks good and one that brings in work.

  • Who are your customers, and how do they find you now?
  • What should someone do after landing on your site?
  • Why do people choose you over the alternatives?
  • Which pages on your current site bring in work, and which don't?
  • Who will look after the site once it's live?

Built on the right platform

Most of the websites I build run on WordPress. It’s flexible, well supported and, once it’s set up sensibly, easy to manage day to day. For online shops I use WooCommerce, and I can connect your products to Google Merchant Center so they’re ready for Google Shopping.

If you already have a website, I’ll look at what’s there before suggesting a rebuild. Sometimes a redesign on your existing platform is the better option, and if that’s the case I’ll tell you.

Common questions

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the number of pages, the features you need and how much content needs writing or moving across. Once I understand what you need, I'll give you a clear quote that spells out exactly what's included.

How long does a website take to build?

That depends mostly on the size of the site and how quickly content and feedback come together. I'll give you a realistic timeline before we start and keep you updated as the work progresses.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. WordPress lets you edit pages, text and images without touching any code. I'll walk you through it when the site is handed over.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I redesign my website?

Not if it's done carefully. I map your existing pages to the new ones, set up redirects wherever addresses change, and keep an eye on Google Search Console after launch so any problems are caught early.

Do you work with businesses outside the UK?

Yes. I'm based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, but I work remotely with clients in other countries, and the whole project can be handled online.

Can you take over a website someone else built?

Usually, yes. I'll look at how it's built, how it's hosted and what condition it's in, then tell you honestly whether it's worth keeping, fixing or replacing.

Tell me about your project

A few lines are enough: what your business does and what you need help with. Include your current website if you have one.
